The Batik Cap technique

The Batik Cap technique

This season we experimented with Batik Cap, a traditional Indonesia batik technique.

We worked directly with artisans to support handmade and to help in keeping their craft alive and encourage their skills to grow.

Batik Caps are blocks made in copper that makes up a design/print.

The blocks are first dipped into hot wax and immediately placed on fabrics; once the wax has dried up the fabrics are dyed with the chosen colors. The wax is then removed to show the final pattern.

The batik master must be fast and accurate in order to match prints each time the cap is dipped again into hot wax.

Our patterns this season are geometrical with a touch of African inspiration for chic holiday staples to wear day to night.
