THE BATIK BRUSH
The Batik Brush Capsule was launched on the occasions of Eid Celebrations in 2024 - We collaborated with talented artisans designers on the island of Java to produce a one-of-a-kind pattern that combines two traditional batik methods and draws inspiration from geometric shapes.
Designs were initially sketched onto delicate cotton voile fabric. Stripes were hand printed using a classic "cap" copper stamp and dots were painted by hands using wax-resist dyeing, a technique in which hot wax is applied to specific areas of cloth, soaked in various dyes, and then boiled off to reveal the final designs.
The campaign was shot at the iconic Biku, a tea house, restaurant set amongst the homey surrounds of a 150-year teak joglo from East Java.
